I am in Sweden this week at the Engelsberg Seminar. It’s put on by the Ax:son Johnson Foundation. Its board members include Ambassador Rolf Ekéus, one of the great figures in Swedish diplomacy and European social democracy. He was the first chairman of the UN weapons inspectors in Iraq after the Gulf War. I interviewed him last year about his work, and especially his role in the International Commission on Missing Persons, which has heroically identified the mortal remains of the victims of the Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia.
The theme of the Engelsberg Seminar this year is Europe. I’ll report on this, and other things.
